FA4C team prepared the Braille text books towards the education of Visually Challenged Students

Dear Friends,

Vidyabhyasam Program:

Many of us already knew that the visually challenged children make use of Braille system to understand and learn the Academic subjects.

FA4C utilized the opportunity (provided by Shree Ramana Maharishi Academy for the Blind, Bangalore) for preparing the Braille text books towards the education of visually challenged children.

For this conversion process, the academic English text books are converted into hard copy of Braille text books.

The conversion process involved:
1) Scanning of academic text books to either image or PDF format.
2) Each scanned page is then converted into a txt format using the optical character recognition software (which is available online).
3) The txt format pages are directly given to the Braille printer which prints the Braille format of the txt pages we created.

The first 2 steps are done from our home itself. The 3rd step is implemented by us in the school. Thus the final output is the Braille text book which can be used by the visually challenged children for their education to learn and understand.

We would like to specially thank our friends who involved in this process of preparing Braille Text Books to the Visually Challenged Children of 'Shree Ramana Maharishi Academy for the Blind', Bangalore :
