Hud Hud Cyclone Relief Activity: FA4C donated text books, note books, guides and test papers to the 21 students of Thota Veedhi, Bhimili, Visakhapatnam District on 23rd Nov, 2014 and on 14th Dec, 2014

Dear Friends,

Hud Hud Cyclone Relief Activity:

On 5th Nov, 2014, we read a news paper with the details of the fisherman who lost their huts during Hud Hud Cyclone at Thota Veedhi, Bhimili, Visakhapatnam District. Even the children of the fisherman (studying in schools and colleges) had lost their text books, note books, uniforms, bags and even the original certificates of their education (along with the huts) during Hud Hud cyclone.

We responded to this news and gathered the list of required books from the 21 students of Thota Veedhi, Bhimili who are studying Intermediate, Polytechnic, Degree and B.Tech (under BC category).

The books to the school students of this area are provided by other NGO.

As the situations are too worse at Thota Veedhi, we requested the students to gather at St.Ann’s Aided high School, Bhemunipatnam (Even this school is collapsed during the cyclone). We donated the note books, text books, guides and test papers to the students of Thota Veedhi, Bhimili, Visakhapatnam District on 23rd Nov, 2014.

This information has been delayed due to:
· The lack of availability of required books in the market.
· As well as we replaced few of the text books as per the requirement of the students.

We ordered the unavailable books in the market and purchased them after their availability. We donated the rest of the 40+ books to the students on 14th Dec, 2014.

A few of the photographs of this event:

The school comprises of classes from 6th to 10th standard. We spoke to the head master of the school and gathered the requirements of the school.

Here is an urgent requirement:

The government faculty post for Mathematics is vacant from the past 2 years at Zilla Parishad Government High School (Telugu Medium) located at Vavilala Village, Jinnaram Mandal, Medak District.

Last year, the village sarpanch provided 20,000 rupees to the Mr.Ramesh Vadla (a local private part time faculty) to teach classes in the school for 1 year (From Sep, 2013 to Oct, 2014 including 2 months of summer holidays). But this year, they don’t have enough funds to arrange a private faculty to the school from November,2014. So, we are requested to support the students either by volunteering on daily basis to teach mathematics classes or by appointing a private Mathematics faculty to the students of 8th, 9th and 10th standard.

We decided to appoint a private mathematics part time faculty to the school:

• Name of the faculty: Mr.Ramesh Vadla (A native of Vavilala village).

• Education : B.Sc (MPC)

• Job : Stores Incharge - Mechanical Stores in Indian Railways

• Office Timings : 2 pm to 10 pm

• The two and half hours time will be divided into 3 classes for all the students.

• Salary: 2,500 rupees per month (which will be provided by Friends Association for a Change)

• We gave the commitment to provide mathematics faculty to the school starting from 16th December, 2014 to 15th April, 2015 (till the end of final examinations).

Based on the result of the students in Mathematics and on full filling the faculty post by the government in the school in the year 2015, we will plan for further support after summer holidays.

And if anyone is interested to volunteer in teaching mathematics/ any other subject to the students of this school, please contact Mr.Vinod: +91-8008969992.

FA4C donated 28 old text books towards the education of the students of Government Public School, Madiwala, Bangalore on 6th December, 2014

Dear Friends,

Instead of storing the old text books without any use in our cup boards, it is better to donate the text books to someone who can utilize them towards their education. This idea of our friends, made them to work on donating text books to the students of a government school at Bangalore.

Ms.Anusha Dommeti gathered 28 old text books of kinder garden, first standard and second standard from the families who live in the apartments that they stay. Ms.Siva Geetha Gudivada identified a Government Public School, located near vegetable market, Madiwala, Bangalore.

Geetha spoke to the Head Master of the Government Public School, Madiwala and donated the 28 text books gathered by Anusha to the kinder garden, first standard and second standard children on 6th December, 2014 at Bangalore.

They haven't taken any of the photographs except the one photograph of the school premises.

Special thanks to our friends Ms. Anusha Dommeti and Ms.Siva Geetha Gudivada who took the initiative and donated the text books towards the education of the students of Government Public School, Madiwala, Bangalore. Your efforts are an inspiration to our friends across locations.

Hud Hud Cyclone Relief Activity: FA4C donated 400 KG's of Rice and 200 Liters of Cooking Oil to the villagers of Jagannadhapuram and Pandalapaka Villages at Visakhapatnam Ditrict on 18th Oct, 2014

Dear Friends,

Mee Nestham:

On 17th Oct, 2014, our friend Mohana Rao Vanumu approached MRO office and gathered the information on the villages that are affected due to Hud Hud cyclone in Visakhapatnam District. On 18th Oct, 2014, after completing the cleaning program in the morning session in Visakhapatnam city, we purchased 400 kg's of rice and 200 liters of sunflower oil from Poona market. We decided to distribute 2 kg's of rice and 1 liter of sunflower oil to each family in the Hud Hud cyclone affected villages. The luggage of 400 KG's of rice and 200 liters of oil is transported to the villages on the car provided by our friend Shaik Abdul Rehman. All our friends traveled on their own bikes (with their own expenses) to the villages.

Our friends who volunteered for this event:

Mohana Rao Vanumu, Shaik Abdul Rehman, Shaik Abdul Shukur, G.Rama Narasimha Raju, Matta Seeta Rama Murthy, Demudu Naidu, Naga Sekhar Darla, Nagarjuna, Vasu Namala, Chandu and Ravi Babu Routhu.

Villages visited by our friends:

1.    Anandapuram (Suburb and Mandal, Visakhapatnam District)

We found that the situations are good at Anandapuram. So we didn't donate even a single rice packet or oil packet to the people of   Anandapuram Mandal.

2.   Jagannadhapuram Village (Located in Anandapuram Mandal, Visakhapatnam District)

We visited Jagannadhapuram Village, where we donated 2 KG's of rice and 1 liter of sunflower oil to each family of this village. A    total of 150 families are benefited in this village.

3.   Pandalapaka Village (Located in Anandapuram Mandal, Visakhapatnam District)

Finally, we visited Pandalapaka Village, where we donated 2 KG's of rice and 1 liter of sunflower oil to each family of this village. A  total of 50 families are benefited in this village.

A total of 200 families got benefited with this rice and oil distribution.

The most miserable situation is found in Pandalapaka Village of Visakhapatnam District. All the 50 families lost their huts in the heavy winds of the cyclone. The 50 families are living in a government school from the day of cyclone. There is no proper road facility to this village. So we stopped the car with the luggage at a walk able distance and requested the villagers to approach the car. People of Pandalapaka Village approached the car and received rice and oil. They informed us on the problems in their village as they lost their houses and the aged people conveyed their blessings to our team as we are the only people who cared about them.

A total of 21,188 rupees had been spent on this event. The food and transport charges are bared by our friends on their own.

We would like to specially thank our friends for contributing amount for this cyclone relief activity:
