Hud Hud Cyclone Relief Activity: FA4C donated 400 KG's of Rice and 200 Liters of Cooking Oil to the villagers of Jagannadhapuram and Pandalapaka Villages at Visakhapatnam Ditrict on 18th Oct, 2014

Dear Friends,

Mee Nestham:

On 17th Oct, 2014, our friend Mohana Rao Vanumu approached MRO office and gathered the information on the villages that are affected due to Hud Hud cyclone in Visakhapatnam District. On 18th Oct, 2014, after completing the cleaning program in the morning session in Visakhapatnam city, we purchased 400 kg's of rice and 200 liters of sunflower oil from Poona market. We decided to distribute 2 kg's of rice and 1 liter of sunflower oil to each family in the Hud Hud cyclone affected villages. The luggage of 400 KG's of rice and 200 liters of oil is transported to the villages on the car provided by our friend Shaik Abdul Rehman. All our friends traveled on their own bikes (with their own expenses) to the villages.

Our friends who volunteered for this event:

Mohana Rao Vanumu, Shaik Abdul Rehman, Shaik Abdul Shukur, G.Rama Narasimha Raju, Matta Seeta Rama Murthy, Demudu Naidu, Naga Sekhar Darla, Nagarjuna, Vasu Namala, Chandu and Ravi Babu Routhu.

Villages visited by our friends:

1.    Anandapuram (Suburb and Mandal, Visakhapatnam District)

We found that the situations are good at Anandapuram. So we didn't donate even a single rice packet or oil packet to the people of   Anandapuram Mandal.

2.   Jagannadhapuram Village (Located in Anandapuram Mandal, Visakhapatnam District)

We visited Jagannadhapuram Village, where we donated 2 KG's of rice and 1 liter of sunflower oil to each family of this village. A    total of 150 families are benefited in this village.

3.   Pandalapaka Village (Located in Anandapuram Mandal, Visakhapatnam District)

Finally, we visited Pandalapaka Village, where we donated 2 KG's of rice and 1 liter of sunflower oil to each family of this village. A  total of 50 families are benefited in this village.

A total of 200 families got benefited with this rice and oil distribution.

The most miserable situation is found in Pandalapaka Village of Visakhapatnam District. All the 50 families lost their huts in the heavy winds of the cyclone. The 50 families are living in a government school from the day of cyclone. There is no proper road facility to this village. So we stopped the car with the luggage at a walk able distance and requested the villagers to approach the car. People of Pandalapaka Village approached the car and received rice and oil. They informed us on the problems in their village as they lost their houses and the aged people conveyed their blessings to our team as we are the only people who cared about them.

A total of 21,188 rupees had been spent on this event. The food and transport charges are bared by our friends on their own.

We would like to specially thank our friends for contributing amount for this cyclone relief activity:
1.      P. Pradeep Kumar and his friends contributed 13,500 rupees.
2.      Raghavendra Baswa contributed 6,000 rupees.
3.      Pallavi Gandhe contributed 1,000 rupees.

FA4C started preparing paper bags using old news papers

Dear Friends,

Pragathi:

Friends Association for a Change decided to utilize old news papers towards the preparation of paper bags. Our intention is to avoid the usage of plastic and to replace it using paper bags. Let us implement it to our extent and remove the rest of questions from our mind. We tried our first attempt to prepare the paper bags from our end on 12th Oct, 2014.

Our friends Mr.Venu Gopal Rao Meesala, Mr.Ramu Singampalli and Mr.Muktheshwar Patnam gathered together on 12th Oct, 2014 at Hydernagar, Hyderabad. They gathered some old news papers from their houses and prepared paper bags using a few of those old news papers. Special thanks to our friends, for implementing this idea in a good way in the first attempt itself.

Though we prepared only 15 paper bags, we are happy that we are able to prepare the bags in the first attempt itself within 2 hours of time. After preparing some good number of paper bags, we shall donate them at free of cost to the public at Hyderabad.

With improvements in paper bag preparation, we shall plan for more events in the future as per the public requirements on behalf of Friends Association for a Change.
