FA donated 50 food packets to the destitutes at Visakhapatnam on 15th August, 2012

Dear Friends,

**Wish You Happy 65th Independence Day**

Our team cooked the flavored rice and packed the food in 50 packets. And then provided these 50 packets of food to the aged people who are destitute near Jnanapuram Railway Station @ Visakhapatnam on 15th August,2012.

Special Thanks to our Team:
ü  Raghavendra Baswa cooked the flavored rice at his house with the help of his mother.
ü  Satyanarayana Yerninti have packed the food in packets.
ü  Banka Santosh Kumar have provided his own vehicle for the transportation of the food.

While donating food:
ü  On hearing that we are providing food packets, an old lady who is at the other end of the road ran and reached us requesting for food. This moved us a bit.
ü  Just keep remembering that our country is still having people who are not in a position even to have the basic facilities like food, clothing and shelter.

I have felt the internal happiness when I heard that our parents are supporting social activities and helping us during the events. Great to see the inspiration given by our parents to encourage these kind of social activities by our team - Vinod

This event is considered as a part of 'Mee Nestham'.

FA team meeting held at Visakhapatnam on 14th August, 2012

Dear Friends,

The following are the important points discussed in the meeting today:

1)      Regarding Child Foundation of India:
a)      Sponsoring of the Faculty: We kept this decision in hold.
Reason: We are not sure on the funds being received by Child Foundation of India (which is being ran from the past 22 years) in the way of food and charity activities by public. Instead they are waiting for the outsiders to sponsor the faculty. So, we are planning to take the decision after speaking to the girl who is willing to work as a faculty on regular basis.

b)      As the Foundation is having Television: Our team is willing to carry a DVD player (team members personal DVD Player) with certain Video DVD’s or CD’s(education related) in the weekends in their free time and play the videos which are interesting to the students in the foundation.

c)       Projector Purchase: Team will enquire the cost of the projectors which are feasible to our activities.

d)      Classes to the students by our FA team on extra cultural activities: Venkatesh Rachakonda came forward to enquire the people(skilled in particular cultural activity) known to him on implementing the extra cultural activities to the students of Child Foundation of India in the weekends. And we request our team to come forward if interested and let us know your names.
 2)      Regarding implementing the plantation program:
a)      We have gathered the areas where maximum number of our team members stay in Vizag. But the areas where maximum number of team stay are not feasible to implement the plantation program. So we decided to enquire in the schools and hospitals where we have an option to implement the plantation program.
b)      We will gather the details of interested members of our entire FA team on their interest to grow plants in their houses. We planned to provide them with each plant on the day of our FA get together.
 3)      Implementing the Message Alerts:
We planned to gather the details of the interested members of our entire FA team on the message alerts related to FA activities and even regarding the blood requirement alerts.
Once we gather the interested members details, we will start the activity of message alerts to your mobile phones.

 4)      Contact Persons on behalf of FA regarding Blood Requirements:
Anuradha Dasari (Contact Number: 9908364244) and Venkatesh Rachakonda(Contact Number: 8142440044) from our team came forward to work as contact persons to represent FA regarding blood requirements.
 5)      Events planned in August and September months of 2012:
a)      15th August,2012 : We are going to provide food to the aged people who are destitute near Jnanapuram Railway Station, Visakhapatnam.
We planned to cook 8 kgs of flavored rice, pack and distribute to the aged people who are destitute on 15th August,2012.

b)      FA get together in September across the locations Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad (Total FA Strength: 226, Vizag FA Strength: around 140 & Hyderabad FA Strength: around 65):
ü  Teams will be divided and each team should bring one food item.
ü  The 1st or 2nd week of September choice is left to the team.
ü  We selected 3 locations from Vizag: Vuda Park, Tenneti Park and Shivaji Park. The choice is left to the team.
ü  We have to yet to select the location from Hyderabad.

c)       Paper Donation Drive to the students who are visually challenged in the last week of September across the 3 locations: Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Bangalore.
The selected schools will be announced soon.

d)      We will be conducting a service oriented event in a school @ Hyderabad in the month of September or November.

6)      Government Registration of FA:
We planned to start enquiring the details of government registration.
We will be preparing the bylaws (booklet with the list of FA activities) soon so as to restrict our FA activities in a limited range (per an year) as per the rules and regulations.

Thank you all for your great participation in this meeting:
Venkatesh Rachakonda, Anuradha Dasari, Swapna Vadlamani, Bharathi Priya, Raghavendra Baswa, Yerninti Satyanarayana, S.V.N.Vinod Krishna.

FA team visited Child Foundation of India at Visakhapatnam

Dear Friends,

Our team visited the organization: ‘Child Foundation of India’ on 11th Aug,2012.

FA gathered the below information:
ü  The organization is being ran by Mr. K. Surya Rao (a Doctor) from the past 22 years in Visakhapatnam and is taking care of street children
ü  Achieved an National Award in the year 2000 from the Government as the street children are being turned as engineers and doctors etc.
ü  Currently, 82 students are being taken care by the organization. The students are provided with the facilities like School(1st to 5th standard), hostel, food, water and with electricity supply (to Fans, Lights and Television).
ü  Around 70 thousand rupees being spent by the organization per month to provide the facilities to the 82 children and to pay the warden(Name: Ratnam).
ü  The foundation is running a school from 1st standard to 5th standard with children divided into 3 class rooms(due to lack of faculty). The students of 2nd and 3rd  standards are combined and are seated in a single class room. The students of 4th and 5th standards are combined and are seated in single class room. And this is apart from the 1st standard students.
ü  Special case of many students with an example: When a street child is joined in the foundation, he might be of the age 10 yrs. Even though the student doesn’t know alphabets, the student will be placed in 5th standard as per his age limit. Such students will be seated on one bench in the class room and are taught alphabets along with other students who are studying 5th standard.
ü  Even though the foundation is taking care of 82 children, the foundation is not in a position to spend amount on providing faculty to the school. Even the 2 teachers who are teaching the students in the school on regular basis are being sponsored with the salaries by the outsiders.
ü  Currently, some of the trainers who are being trained in BHPV are teaching the students in the evenings for an hr or 2 hrs on regular basis.
ü  All the students are having the note books and text books currently.

Requests to our FA team by the warden:
ü  As there are already 2 regular teaching staff and trainers from BHPV teaching the students in the evenings, the students are being confused as there are multiple teachers for them for each subject. So, they are expecting only one faculty for each student.
ü  And teaching the students in the weekends doesn’t meet the requirements with a flow in the regular subjects. So, they are expecting for a faculty on regular basis.
ü  As we are interested to teach in the weekends, we are requested to teach the topics other than regular subjects like Yoga, Ramayana, Mahabharata, General Knowledge etc

Actions and Options available with FA:
1)    Providing employment to a faculty to teach on regular basis:
Ø  The warden informed us that there is a girl (who studied intermediate) approaching the school regularly requesting to provide employment as a faculty to the students. As there is no sponsor to sponsor the salary for the teacher, the warden have been rejecting her from a few weeks.
Ø  1500 rupees per month is the pay to the faculty who work on regular basis in the school. This is decided by the foundation as per the salaries being provided to other faculty.
Ø  FA is ready to provide employment to the girl suggested by the warden as a faculty on regular basis in the school and sponsor the pay of 1500 rupees per month.
Ø  As the organization: ‘Child Foundation of India’ is government registered, the organization provides us an official letter mentioning that we are sponsoring the pay to the faculty of their foundation.

2)    As we have a strength of 49 interested members to teach the students:
Ø  We can plan for teaching General Knowledge, teaching Ramayana and Mahabharata, teaching the life history of Vivekananda etc in the weekends.
Ø  We can even plan for teaching: drawing, encouraging the students in sports etc.

3)    As per the suggestion from one of our friends in our team:
Ø  Better to buy a small projector. Even, we can look if anyone can come forward and sponsor the projector.
Ø  We can make use of the projector to project video tutorials using CD’s or DVD’s to the students. This idea can be implemented to all the students across all the government schools.
Ø  We can even make use of the projector for giving seminars to the students in various colleges or schools.
Ø  We can even make use of the projector for organizing the social awareness drives in public.

We planned for a team meeting in Visakhapatnam on 14th Aug,2012 for the final decisions on the above mentioned actions and options available with FA.

Thanks & Regards,
Friends Association

FA team meeting held at Visakhapatnam on 8th August,2012

Dear Friends,

FA proposal to teach the students of Child Foundation of India in the weekends:
The following are the points which are discussed with our team in the meeting held on 8th Aug,2012 @ Vizag:
1)      Our FA team planned to visit: Child Foundation of India on 11th Aug,2012. We are planning to clear many more queries on visiting the foundation.
2)      We will note down all the subjects that each of our team members (from the list of 49) can teach.
3)      We will divide the list of 49 members into certain number of teams depending on the number of classes and sections in the Foundation.
4)      These teams will be coordinated by the team coordinators and they in turn will be in contact with the one who schedules the monthly plan.
5)      The traveling expenses will be reimbursed to our team who teach the students in the weekends. The reimbursement will be done reasonably by Friends Association, either on immediate Monday (or) at the end of the month.

This is an alternative idea suggested by our team, apart from the proposal of FA:
As we are ready to spend around 1000 rupees/month from Friends Association in the way of travelling expenses to our team, why don’t we arrange a faculty from our end to the foundation ? ? ?
Try to enquire if any of the faculty from the nearby schools is interested to teach for 2 to 3 hrs daily in the foundation, with a salary of 2000 rupees per month. If there is anyone interested in such a way, we can arrange a faculty completely for the entire month.
FA suggests:
Child Foundation of India is being ran in Vizag from the past 22 years. In case, if the foundation is not really in a position to hire anymore faculty to the children on regular basis and also if there is any faculty, who is ready to teach the students for 2 to 3 hrs daily for a salary of 2000 rupees/month, FA is ready to bear the expenses and provide the faculty to the students on regular basis. Please inform us, if there is anyone who is interested to teach for  2 to 3 hrs daily for a salary of 2000 rupees/month.
Note: FA is being funded only with around 8000 rupees per month currently.

Thank you all for your great participation in this meeting:
